RODION ZAMURUEV, Violin

Rodion Zamuruev was born in 1969, and graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in 1993 from the class of Prof. I.Bochkova. He was a prizewinner at the Russian National Competition for Violinists in 1997, and the Tibor Varga International Competition in Sion, Switzerland, in 1998, where he was also awarded a special prize for the best interpretation of contemporary pieces. Zamuruev is grant holder of the Mstislav Rostopovich Fund (David Oistrakh Grant), and Second Prizewinner at the Rodolfo Lipizer International Violin Competition in 1999, where he also won a special prize for the best interpretation of the Bach Solo Sonatas and Partitas. In 2000, he was a prizewinner of the First Concours International Jean Rogister for Violinists and Violists, in Vervier, Belgium. That same year, he also won Second Prize at the Dr. Louis Sigal International Violin Competition, in Vino del Mar, Chile, where he also won the special Audience's Choice Prize. He has been a solo performer since the age of seven, and has appeared in the most prestigious halls of Moscow, St. Petersburg, and other cities of Russia, as well as in Spain, Belgium, Germany, Italy, France, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Albania, Yugoslavia and elsewhere. While Zamuruev's repertoire includes composers of all eras, his preference is for the music of the twentieth century. He has appeared as soloist with the Nijni Novgorod Philharmonic, the Ryazan, Saratov, Samara, Young Russia, and Moldavia Orchestras, the Petrozavodsk Radio and TV Orchestra, the Belgrade Philharmonic, the Vino del Mare Municipal Orchestra, as well as many others. Zamuruev performed at the International Festival of Chamber Music, in Tirana, Albania; the World Music Days International Festival in Luxembourg; the International Festival, at the Expo-2000 Exhibition in Hanover; and in recent years, has been a regular participant in the annual Moscow Autumn, and Panorama of Russia International Festivals of Contemporary Music. He has recorded several CDs for the Sterling Classics and Marco Polo/Nexus labels.
