Marina Yashvili
|
Marina Yashvili was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, in a family of musicians. She began studying violin at the age of six with her father, Professor Luarsab Yashvili, and continued her studies at the Moscow Conservatory in the class of Professor K. G. Mostras. She made her debut as soloist with orchestra at the age of nine, and began concertizing regularly when she was eleven.
After winning the Jon Kubelik Competition in Prague, Yashvili began touring extensively in the former Soviet Union and abroad. She is also a laureate of other international competitions, including the Henryk Wieniawski in Poznan, and the Queen Elizabeth, in Brussels. Currently Yashvili is a Professor at the Moscow Conservatory, and gives master-classes in Switzerland, France, Spain, Poland and Germany.
Artistic Director of the Georgia Chamber Orchestra for five years, Yashvili has performed with the Concertgebouw Orchestra in the Netherlands, and has appeared under the batons of such noted conductors as Roberto Benzi, Franz Andre, Yury Svetlanov, and Gennady Rozhdestvensky. Her tours as soloist and recitalist have taken her to such countries as Sweden, Italy, Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Israel, South America and Turkey.
