Ruben Asatryan
|
Ruben Asatryan was born in Yerevan and graduated from the Yerevan State "Komitas" Conservatory, where he studied violin (1986) and conducting (1991). Following graduation, he took Master Classes in conducting at the Moscow Conservatory. He is currently active as a conductor with numerous prestigious orchestras in Armenia, including the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Symphony Orchestra of the Yerevan State Conservatory, where he is principal conductor. In addition, he has worked with numerous chamber orchestras, including the well-known Renaissance Chamber Orchestra, which he founded in 1981, as well as the Orchestra of Soloists of the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra.
Maestro Asatryan's repertoire is quite large, and includes the large-scale symphonic repertory of the great composers, such as Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Strauss, and Shostakovich. In addition, he has long specialized in contemporary music, and in particular that of Armenian composers - such as those featured on his page here at the Classical Archives, including four symphonies by Avet Terteryan.
